It is a certificate of insurance that is filed with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) showing proof of insurance for the future, as required by law. SR22 Texas insurance is not necessarily high risk insurance. It is motor vehicle liability insurance, with an SR22 filing which requires the insurance company to certify coverage to the Department of Public Safet (DPS).
