Does it cost anything to take my driving snapshot?
No, it's free to enroll in Snapshot.*
How does a customer get a discount?
Customers could earn a discount of up to 30 percent per each vehicle they enroll in Snapshot. The discount is based on the number of miles you drive, time of day you drive and how often you make sudden stops. People who drive less, in safer ways and during safer times of day could get a discount. We'll apply any discount you earn about 30 days after you plug in your Snapshot device. Then, when you renew your policy, we'll finalize your driving snapshot, and you can keep saving for as long as you're insured by Progressive. If you make significant change to your policy, we might ask you to take a new snapshot of your driving.
What is the total benefit of participating in Snapshot?
The total discount could be up to 30% per vehicle and is based on the customer's driving behavior. He or she can only save money with Snapshot; the rate will not increase based on information collected from the Snapshot device.
How does the discount work?
The discount is based on the customer's driving data as collected by the Snapshot device. Once the customer installs the device and begins driving, they can track their discount online. After 30 days they'll get an initial discount; at renewal they'll set their Snapshot discount percentage, at which time they need to unplug and return the device to Progressive.

Can I change my mind after I've signed up for Snapshot?
Yes, you can cancel at any time, and afterward, we won't use your driving data to determine your insurance rate. (NOTE: Alabama customers are an exception to that rule). |
What happens if the device is unplugged?
To ensure the best Snapshot experience and to get the proper discount, the device should never be unplugged. If a mechanic or emissions technician (where applicable) temporarilly removed the device to urn a diagnostic check, you should plug it back in immediately upon completion. If the device is not transmitting data due to being unplugged, you may risk losing your potential discount. If the device is accidently unplugged. Progressive will notice the data transmissions have stopped and we will send you an e-mail.
